Q: What is the aim of Clean and Cool Mission?
A: The goal of the Mission is to help twenty of the UK’s fast growing cleantech companies have a bigger impact and succeed more quickly.
Q: What is Clean and Cool?
A: The Clean and Cool Mission celebrates the best of UK technology innovation in the “Clean and Cool Economy”
The “Clean and Cool Economy” refers to the individuals, enterprises, investors, clusters, sectors and value webs contributing to the evolution of low-carbon, biodiversity-friendly value creation.
Clean and cool sectors include;
- Agriculture and Sustainable Food
- Biofuels and Biomaterials
- Energy Efficiency
- Energy Storage
- Renewable Energy
- Resource Efficiency
- Smart Grid
- Transportation
- Waste and pollution management
- Water supply, sanitation and use
- Other
Q: Who can enter the competition?
A: The competition is open to UK based companies working in the Clean technology space.
These companies are developing the new technologies, services and business models that address our greatest environmental, energy and resource challenges. They also offer the potential to become future UK leaders of a global low carbon economy.
Typically, they have been trading for at least two years.
Q: How will my entry be judged?
A: The judging panel will be considering:
- Innovation: Breakthrough in product, service or business model and its potential impact
- Market: Interesting, immediate and clearly identified market
- Ability: Team, track record and readiness to do business in the US and overseas
Q: Who organises Clean and Cool Mission 2012?
A: The Mission is organised in partnership between Technology Strategy Board, UKTI, private sector sponsors, The Co-Sponsorship Agency and The Long Run Venture. The Long Run Venture is responsible for co-ordinating the week-long programme of activities in March, UK activities, liaising with Mission companies and the Mission logistics.
